Your choice
We ask for an email address and explicit newsletter consent. A confirmation email verifies that you control the inbox. A request alone does not join the newsletter. Opening a confirmation page alone does not subscribe you; confirmation requires a deliberate action. Confirming does not automatically send a past issue.
What the mail service keeps
The mail service keeps your address, subscription state, consent version and request/confirmation times. Confirmation credentials expire and are stored as hashes. Limited request records support abuse prevention. Delivery events help us handle failed addresses, complaints and unsubscribe requests.
The website is hosted on GitHub Pages. The separate mail service uses Vercel, a private Neon database and Resend to process subscriptions and deliver emails. These providers process the data necessary for those functions under their service agreements. Their privacy notices describe their own practices: Vercel, Neon and Resend. Subscriber records are not published in the website, public API, search index or GitHub repository.
What we use it for
Your newsletter address is for The Charitology Letter and messages needed to manage that subscription. We do not sell it, publish it or add it to a donor or volunteer list. Subscribing does not authorize another program to contact you. We do not use tracking pixels or tracked links in the letter.
Unsubscribe and requests
Use the unsubscribe or preferences link in a letter to stop receiving it. Minimal suppression information may remain to prevent accidental resubscription. For an access, correction or deletion request, email hello@charitology.org from the subscribed address. We may need to verify control before disclosing or changing a record.
If your address is already unsubscribed across the shared Resend account, a Charitology signup must not silently reverse that preference. The confirmation flow will explain any additional step needed.
