Applies to extension version 0.1.1. Updated October 25, 2026.
What it reads
The toolbar popup reads the active tab’s title when you open it, to suggest a search. You can change or remove the suggestion. On supported donation pages, the card reads the title when you click Look it up. It does not read donation amounts, payment details, form entries or account credentials.
What it stores
Extension-local storage remembers the sites where you chose to hide the card. Checked checklist boxes and search text are not saved by the extension. Removing the extension removes its local settings.
What happens when you click a link
The extension opens a page on Charitology. A suggested search travels in the URL fragment after #q=; the browser does not include that fragment in its HTTP request. The lookup reads it locally. The name reaches an external registry only if you choose a registry link that includes the name. The lookup explains which links do this.
Opening any website still sends an ordinary page request to its host, which receives information such as the requested path and IP address. Charitology is hosted on GitHub Pages; GitHub’s privacy statement describes its hosting practices. Earlier extension version 0.1.0 used a query parameter, which was included in the page request.
